Haiti Outreach Pwoje Espwa (H.O.P.E.) is supporting maternal and infant care in Borgne, Haiti. This maternal and infant project will provide health interventions and treatments for pregnant females and infants in the rural community of Borgne. The 100 squire mile community hosts 80,000 residents and life has its struggles and hardships. Living in poverty, residents have limited access to health care in this rural community. Infant mortality is high and life expectancy is half of developed countries. Women and children are the most vulnerable with diseases of Tuberculosis, malnutrition and infections.
The H.O.P.E. medical center offers affordable health services to the women and children in the community. Providing maternal and infant care will promote better health outcomes for the entire community. A healthier family unit will optimize learning, work and self-sufficiency and enhance survival.
